The future of Atlantic bluefin tuna...

Agadir, Morocco:   WWF calls on decision makers and the fishing industry to follow the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) Scientific Committee`s advice to ensure the bluefin tuna quota in the Eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean remains the same and does not exceed 12,900 tonnes annually.
 


GM repurposes expired Chevy Volt batteries

As more and more electric and hybrid cars are sold, there is a growing concern about what to do with the batteries that power these vehicles once they reach their expiration date. General Motors and ABB have unveiled a new modular unit that uses the power from five used Chevy Volt batteries to provide up to two hours of electricity for three to five average homes.
 


Russia boosts protection for tigers

Tiger hunting is considered by many to be the biggest single factor in the decline of tigers this century - resulting in the world losing 97 per cent of its wild tigers, including four entire sub-species which have been driven to extinction. It is estimated that there may be as few as 3,200 of the endangered animals now remaining in the wild.

Four Bulgarian schools included in international eco-competition WWF

Vienna / Sofia - Bulgarian Students from four schools will participate in the fifth edition of the initiative of the international conservation organization WWF and Erste Bank "European Schools for a Living Planet". This week they participated in the Startup event program will then engage in a week-long environmental Academy in Vienna.

The program includes a variety of workshops and activities designed to provide information on current environmental issues.
